Pizza

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons basil
  • 1/2 teaspoons oregano
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat about 15 minutes to blend flavors.
  • Helpful Hint
  • Use the above sauce as a pizza sauce, as a sandwich spread, or as a catsup substitute. Will keep in refrigerator for several weeks.
  • Crust (by hand):
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 3/4 cups whole wheat flour (may use 1/2 unbleached flour)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast and honey in the hot water (110°). Let stand 10 minutes. Stir in salt, oil and flour, 1 cup at a time. Mix well. Knead dough in bowl about 50 timnes. Let rise 1 hour. Roll out onto pizza pan. Poke holes in crust to let air escape, and prebake 10 minutes at 400°. Top with sauce, soy cheese, vegetables. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350°.
